Welcome to the City of Lost Angels

since sekizawa-san (tokyo parts) was in our hood after the SEMA show he asked to be taken around to see some of our city's sites so our boy ken holla'd at the local SGV riders and within 24 hours over 24 people showed up to escort "the man" around our town.

props to both minkus and fatphos for the above visual sickness.

starting point BOWLS HQ...

sekizawa-san handling some last minute tuning...

first stop was through old town pasadena to the rose bowl but it was pretty much shut down for the UCLA game...

so we were off through downtown to little tokyo to visit the Japanese American National Museum and to grab some lunch...

next stop griffith park...

the o.g. rebel...

the jdm scooter rebel...

final stop was through hollyhood to rodeo drive...

spl thx to kenny (eastsideruckster) for organizing this event and to both steven (ruckus) and raymond (longballer) for leading the pack in the right direction when we were lost as fuck. also, thx to all the local SGV riders who came out on such short notice to escort our vip guest.

for more coverage visit totalruckus HERE and HERE.

the next day we drove sekizawa-san over to the westside...

i told sekizawa that if he looked hard enough he might be able to see tokyo...

his last sunset in the americas...

this is for you minkus... just like everything else overseas, shits backwards...

LA bitches!!!

again, we cannot thank sekizawa-san enough for flying out from Japan to help us out during SEMA. anytime you want to come back to la la land give us a shout...

BOWLSEMA

while you were safely tucked in and fast asleep we were off pioneering a movement...

spl thx to jerry of pac rim/gallery fresh for allowing us to borrow his support vehicle.

ever try hauling 10 bikes on an open trailer? yeah, neither have we...

pulling an all-nighter and driving 5 hours makes you see funny things...

setup went smoothly considering we really didn't have much to setup...

the project bike... a brand spanking new 09.

tear down...

recycling bin...

for all who couldn't attend we setup a live web broadcast so you stalkers could check in on the action...

spl thx to SEMA for providing us with electrical. we definitely milked it for all it was worth. when the free wifi wasn't cutting it we were tethering connection from our edge and 3g iphones. peep our our mission control...

even though we were in the truck and suv hall we broke a whole lot of necks... what makes the ruckus so cool is that it speaks to all age groups, sexes and tuners.

spl thx to sekizawa-san of tokyo parts for flying halfway around the globe to assist us in this monumental build.

progression...

after completion SEMA allowed us to take the project bike out so we could fire her up and make sure everything was cool and the gang...

yatta!

within two hours of the show closing we were already packed up, loaded and ready to head the fuck home...

SEMA 08 or BUST

if you're going to be in sin city during the first week of november please visit us at the upcoming sema show. you will find BOWLS at booth number 32137.

originally sema invited us out to display 10 rucks but after further discussion, they came up with a brilliant idea to build a project bike on-site during the course of the week to showcase what these cool little scooters can become with some bolt-on modifications and simple hand tools.

for all of you who don't know what sema is it is the largest automotive trade show on the planet. manufacturers and aftermarket companies bring out the latest and greatest in automotive technology and this is where you'll see some of the finest modes of transportation on display, some of which take a lifetime to complete.

we're both honored and humbled that sema would reach out to a rag-tag bunch of misfits such as ourselves to showcase up-and-coming new trends.

a ton of great companies have signed on to help with this groundbreaking project build and we will be documenting the entire thing, from start to finish, right here on our site.

wish us luck and if you're attending the show please feel free to dontate beer, drugs and hookers. we'll certainly need them...

"The G-State Skytop is for all the Supra Heads that live in the Bay. We got the inspiration for this colorway watching Baron Davis play ball with Golden State Warriors. I guess word got back to Baron on how big of fans we were, and come to find out he also has one of the biggest Supra collections out therewe were kinda psyched. Hopefully you will see us court-side this season since he is playing for the Clippers now, which is a little closer than the Oracle Arena."

imprintable

we were invited out to this years imprint conference to display some rucks and show support for our bud wan.

this is what we brought out...

this is what shinya kimura of chabott engineering brought out...

62' honda c100 (50cc)

57' triumph

chabott wins hands fucking down.

the imprint crew flew wan out from korea to come and sit on the panel of transportation discussion along with many other esteemed builders, tuners, drivers and business owners.

after the discussion wan got mobbed by fans and media.

wan mentioned that his title of "ruckus rider extraordinaire" was nowhere near as impressive as some of other folks on the panel. i offered to superman punch the next bigwig that walked by and steal his credentials but he respectfully declined and i averted yet another trip to the slammer. thanks wan.

the conference was held at the japanese american national museum located in little tokyo.

also on display was the rs-r/scion tc drift car that was converted to rwd using a custom turbocharged 3sge beams motor out of an altezza and piloted by k.gushi.

a.kim (performance nissan) brought out his radically modified 350z turbo. you may recognize this beast from this months cover of super street mag.

congrats to ryan ku and the rest of the imprint staff for holding another successful conference and thanks for believing we were cool enough to attend.
